Mark Your Calendars: HGTV's 'White House Christmas Special' Premieres December 10

After the White House released the stunning images of this year's Christmas decorations, designed by First Lady Melania Trump, we've been dying to know exactly how the extravagant design came together. Luckily, HGTV will unveil all the secrets of turning 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue into a winter wonderland during White House Christmas 2017 (the 15th consecutive special of its kind),which airs Sunday, December 10 at 6 p.m. ET/PT.

During the one-hour special designer and home renovation star Alison Victoria will get an exclusive look at how White House staff and volunteers actually deck its halls during a room-by-room tour.

This year's décor theme, "Time-Honored Traditions," was inspired by customs at America's first residence and classic holiday traditions. Alison will help volunteers decorate and sample delicious pastries, and viewers will learn some of the trade secrets of the lavish decorations in favorite spaces like the Green Room, Red Room, and East Colonnade.

Ever wonder how they're able to put together the 350-pound gingerbread replica of the White House? The special will follow Alison as she works alongside White House kitchen staff and executive pastry chef Susan Morrison to prep and display of the cookie mansion.

And, of course, the special will give us an up-close view of the White House Christmas tree showcased in the Blue Room.
