Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building has built up a cult following since launching its first season in 2021, and for good reason. The series tracks the ongoing story of three residents who live in a swanky Upper West Side apartment building, who decide to investigate some suspicious deaths that have occurred in their building. Along the way, they also decide to produce their own podcast. True crime, podcasts, and Selena Gomez? What more could a person want.

The third season of the series—which once again stars the powerhouse team of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez—just wrapped, and the final episode left everyone on a total cliffhanger... There were a lot of big questions that still needed to be unpacked.

With that, plenty of fans want to know whether a fourth season is coming down the pipeline to answer all those Qs. Good news! The answer is "yes." Hulu has said they're releasing a fourth season. Everyone, celebrate!

Here’s everything to know about what’s ahead for your favorite armchair detectives.

What happens at the end of season 3?

Well, quite a few things went down at the end of season 3, setting the series up for another season.

Viewers learn that the mother-son production team Donna and Clifford DeMeo killed Ben Glenroy. First, Donna put rat poison on Ben’s cookie, but he managed to avoid it. Ben then started to talk to Clifford about what he thought was happening, and Clifford...pushed him down an elevator shaft.

Fans also discover that Sazz Pataki (played by Jane Lynch) was shot in the middle of Charles’ apartment.

Who killed Sazz?

Spoiler alert! Sazz does die at the end of season 3. It’s not totally clear, but perhaps fans will get more insights into her death during season 4.

Here's what goes down: Sazz tells Charles that she has something sensitive she wanted to talk to him about in private. But she is attacked and killed before she can ~actually~ meet up with him to spill the deets.

BTW, Sazz is also Charles’ body double, so it’s tricky to know if someone was trying to kill Sazz or Charles with the murder.

When will season 4 air?

While Hulu has confirmed they will be working on another season, the streamer's exact timing hasn’t been announced just yet.

Here’s a cute poster the show released to celebrate the renewal, though:

The first season was released in August of 2021, the second in July of 2022, and the third in August of 2023, so it's likely season 4 will be hitting the airwaves in a little less than a year. But only time will tell!

Who will be in the cast?

It’s pretty much certain that the main cast will return. That includes:

But it’s also likely that fans will see these popular cast members in the mix, too:

  • Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Detective Williams)

  • Michael Cyril Creighton (Howard),

  • Ryan Broussard (Will Putnam)

  • Tina Fey (Cinda Canning)

  • Jackie Hoffman (Uma),

  • Jason Veasey (Jonathan)

Who is leaving the cast?

Sadly, Jane Lynch won’t be back since, ya know, her character was killed off. Linda Emond (Donna), Wesley Taylor (Clifford), and Paul Rudd (Ben), also won’t be back.

Is there a trailer yet?

Nope, no trailer yet! Check back in soon for more details.

Where can I watch season 4?

As always, you'll be able to watch the new season (when it actually drops) on Hulu's streaming platform. Generally, the streamer releases all episodes at once, so you'll be able to watch the season straight through, if that's your jam.

If you don't already have a subscription, you can start a free trial, and then subs start at $7.99 per month, or $14.99 if you want to skip ads.

What will happen during season 4?

There aren't a ton of details, but if I had to guess, the next season will definitely touch on Sazz’s murder. The characters will also probably be trying to suss out whether Charles was the real target, and Sazz was collateral damage.

It's possible that viewers may also get to see a little more on Mabel and Oliver's love lives, since both Tobert and Loretta moved to Los Angeles.

How many seasons will there be after this?

As of right now, the show has only been renewed for a fourth season. But that definitely doesn’t mean this is the final season. FWIW, ahead of the season 3 premiere, the show's co-creator and executive producer John Hoffman says that Only Murders has "a good long life" ahead of it, and he is hoping to keep working for several more seasons, per Screenrant.

Everyone will just have to wait to see what else is coming down the pipeline.
