Marion Cotillard is known for her elegant, French red carpet beauty looks, and it always lends her style a modern edge. On Wednesday night’s premiere of Allied, Cotillard’s upcoming film with Brad Pitt, she instead put her personal spin on a classic Americana hairstyle.

Cotillard wore her shoulder-length locks in a high-volume version of the hairdos that were popular in the 1950s.

Adding texture and height, Cotillard redefined the iconic ’50s hairstyle, worn by Grace Kelly and many more old Hollywood actresses. Instead of pairing the look with a glossy red lip and feminine cat-eye, Cotillard updated the look with soft taupe smoky shadow and a brown tightlined eyelids. Her skin was naturally glowy (thanks, pregnancy!) and her lips were stained pink. Beauty looks like this one make us think of Cotillard in the same vein as the iconic actresses of the past.
