Mario Lopez, Ben Affleck

Mario Lopez may be a well-seasoned pro when it comes to red carpet chit-chat, but that doesn't mean he's without his blunders.

The 49-year-old Saved by the Bell star spoke candidly about one "oopsie" he had while interviewing none other than Ben Affleck, describing the whole experience as "uncomfortable" and something he vowed to "never again" let happen.

"One time when I interviewed Ben Affleck for a movie," he recalled in a recent conversation with Us Weekly. "I didn’t want to do it because I wasn’t prepared."

While lack of prep is a good enough reason to call out of nearly any scenario, Lopez–who proudly shared that he's "always prepared" for interviews–didn't get so lucky this time. "And they said, ‘We don’t have anyone, you have to do it.’ I was like, ‘Oh, God.'"

Lopez, 49, came with a few questions, but they must not have been his best work, given Affleck's body language.

"He was looking at me [like], ‘You didn’t see this, you don’t know what you’re talking about,'" Lopez shared with a laugh. "He could see through me! And I’ll never forget that. And I was like, ‘Never again am I going to try to fake it.'"

Lopez continued, "I knew he knew and I … felt very awkward and uncomfortable there," later noting that Affleck, 51, was "cool" about the entire encounter.

The instance wasn't the only time Lopez slipped up. The Access Hollywood personality also recalled one unforgettable Golden Globes where he brought tequila to the red carpet in an attempt to drink with every subject, but instead ended up with his own cover story.

"I was trying to do shots with everyone and I ended up doing, my God … like, 20 something shots and it was bad," Lopez said. "And it was on the cover of [The] New York Post or something, ‘Mario Lopez was doing double digits in shots.’ They were counting on the thing. It was crazy. I felt it the next day."
