Just because the Barbie press tour is over, doesn’t mean Margot Robbie has stopped delivering looks on the red carpet. While we certainly miss her Barbie pink era, it’s refreshing to see the 33-year-old try on new styles and, well, colors. Before the pink shade took over the actress’s wardrobe, her typical red carpet look leaned more minimalist. And, it seems as though she’s gone back to her roots, all while debuting a new haircut.

On April 14, Robbie was joined by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry in Los Angeles for the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony to recognize the next generation of scientists (random, but we’ll take a cute red carpet moment where we can get it!). We’re no scientists, but we’ll definitely hypothesize that Robbie was one of the best-dressed there. The Barbie actress dressed in a strapless black Rick Owens gown that grazed the red carpet, hiding her heels. She paired it with no necklace and two gold cuff bracelets, one on each arm. Last, but not least, was her chic new lob cut (the long bob, if you will) which gave the overall simple look an elevated feel.

Let’s break down her cut. It appears as though her lob has minimal layers with face-framing pieces that brush the tops of her collarbones. Her natural blonde hair was on display, with no change there. It seems as though her locks were simply due for a trim! Nevertheless, her new no-fuss lob will be easy to maintain for the warmer months. Hairstylist Christopher Farmer styled the cut in Robbie's signature undone vibe, with the ends ever-so-slightly flipped in towards her face.

Robbie’s makeup, applied by her go-to makeup artist Pati Dubroff, was subtle and classic. She contoured her cheeks for a sculpted effect and added a pop of soft pink blush on the apples of her cheeks. Her mascara was barely noticeable, as was her eyeshadow. She topped the look off with a swipe of nude lip gloss and opted for a straightforward square French manicure.

The cool-girl lob cut is a great mid-point for those fearful of chopping off too much, but who still want a change (like myself). In the summer, longer hair can be a pain to maintain and a short cut makes it easy to throw up and go. Look to Robbie’s lob as your spring hair length inspiration, and by the middle of summer, it’ll be perfectly grown out.
