Margot Robbie is officially one of the most booked-and-busy working actresses right now, with her star set to ascend even higher in the near future with leading roles in two very different projects: Babylon and Barbie. All of which is to say, it's unclear whether she will be returning to the breakout role which helped launch her career, DC antiheroine Harley Quinn. But if she ever does, Robbie would love to see her character have a relationship with a supervillain who isn't the Joker.

Having portrayed Harley in Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and most recently The Suicide Squad, Robbie is keen for a big-screen project to embrace a storyline that has played out both in the comics and animated series: Harley Quinn falling in love with her fellow Gotham bad girl Poison Ivy.

"I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I've been pushing for that. I want it too," Robbie said in an interview with ComicBook.com. "Honestly, when I pictured, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. I don't really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good."

We know that the next movie incarnation of Harley Quinn will be played by Lady Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Phillips' sequel Joker: Folie à Deux, but now that Suicide Squad director James Gunn has been brought in as the co-lead of the DC Universe, it is possible that Robbie will once again return to pick up that iconic baseball bat, should her schedule allow.

And if she does? DC might need to get ready to cast their Poison Ivy.
