If there's anything we learned from this past year, it's that Barbie truly does exist! She has a real-life Ken by her side, too. We're obviously talking about Margot Robbie, aka the star of the Barbie movie, and her husband Tom Ackerley.
The Hollywood couple is constantly attending red carpet events together, showing everyone that true love isn't just for romance movies. (Though, our favorite couple has already proved that to be true. 😉) Still, we do love a good celebrity love story, so you know we had to dive into this one. Especially since the two always have such sweet things to say about one another—and Tom isn't in the public eye in the same way that Margot is.
"I am so lucky," Margot once said of her relationship with Tom. "He likes being behind the camera. He's not fazed by any of this stuff."

Margot confirmed in a 2016 interview with The Daily Telegraph that the two crossed paths for the first time on the set of Suite Française (2014), a movie in which she was a cast member and Tom was an assistant director.
They've kept their relationship relatively away from the public eye (minus those striking red-carpet appearances), so not much was known about them as a couple. However, in this interview, Margot let us in on how they have been able to keep things strong between them.
“The most helpful thing I’ve learned from other couples in this industry is that you don’t go more than three weeks without seeing each other,” she said. “Being in a long-distance relationship can be really hard when you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. It can mess with your head, so the three-week rule is key.”

With that said, Tom was born in Surrey, United Kingdom on June 13, 1990. The British native has worked on the ins-and-outs of a bunch of films, TV shows, and other projects! You may be familiar with some of his work—for example, he acted as the assistant director for films like The Brothers Grimsby (2016) and Macbeth (2015). Though, he has plenty of credits as a crew member of all sorts with projects dating back to 2012.
In 2014, Tom and Margot co-founded LuckyChap Entertainment, a production company that has went on to produce many successful and notable films! They include: Saltburn, Barbie, I, Tonya, Dollface, and so much more!
Margot was very ecstatic about the company when discussing it with Mirror: “We started our production company [LuckyCap Entertainment] with our best friends, and it continues to be a wonderful group dynamic. We all really work well together. I feel very lucky.”
Fun fact: Tom was also an extra in a Harry Potter movie during his younger years!
"My husband is in the Harry Potter movies. I know, I was like, 'Had you told me sooner we would've been married very quickly,'" Margot said on The Graham Norton Show in 2020. "But he was an extra when he was a little kid — he was one of the Slytherin extras when Draco pushes some kids out of the way to see Buckbeak in the third book. He pushes my husband out of the way."

We weren't lying when we said that they keep things low-key! No one (besides Margot, Tom, and their loved ones) know the official day they got engaged. However, we do know that they officially tied the knot at some point in December 2016 in a secret ceremony on Australia's Gold Coast.
When talking about married life in Hollywood to Extra in 2017, Margot had this to say: "We did [I, Tonya] instead of our honeymoon. There were times we were sitting in a car parked in Atlanta freezing cold being like, 'We should be on a beach right now. We should be on a honeymoon. What are we doing?!' Following our dream."
It seems that they've found the magic that works for them. We can't wait to see more Margot and Tom content as time goes on!
