Margot Robbie has established herself as one of Hollywood’s major power players. In 2013, the Australian actress had her breakthrough role in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” in which she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

The following years would see the actress star in major films, including “Suicide Squad,” “I, Tonya” and most recently, the billion-dollar box office hit “Barbie,” where she played the title character. “Barbie” earned Robbie her fourth Golden Globe acting nomination.

From 2018 to 2022, Robbie was a global ambassador for Chanel, which saw the Hollywood actress don many of its gowns and dresses on the red carpet during that time frame. With the end of her Chanel contract and the “Barbie” press tour this year, Robbie began experimenting with her style more and has worn looks from Versace, Schiaparelli and Fendi.

With the Golden Globes less than a month away, WWD looks at Robbie’s past ensembles for the ceremony in anticipation of what she will wear at the upcoming awards on Jan. 7.

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards marked the first awards after Robbie’s breakout role in “The Wolf of Wall Street.” For the occasion and one of her first major awards red carpet appearances after the film, she wore a Gucci ivory sheath V-neck sleeveless column dress with a thigh-high slit and crystal and emerald jeweled beading on the arms and waist. She completed the look with emerald green peep-toe platform heels.

In 2018, Robbie received her first Best Actress Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy nomination for “I, Tonya,” which she also produced, receiving a Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy nomination as well. For the night, Robbie wore all black to support the Time’s Up movement’s efforts to combat sexual harassment. Gucci designed her custom gown in satin, with details including silver sequin embroidery, a thigh-high slit and a statement bow at the waist. She completed the look with strappy black sandals.

Adding to her Golden Globe nominations, in 2020, Robbie received a nod for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for “Bombshell,” the film about the downfall of former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes. Robbie, a Chanel ambassador at the time, wore a fall 2019 couture look from the brand, including a bustier crafted from 4,750 sequins, which took more than 200 hours to create, and a white satin crepe skirt. WWD characterized Chanel’s fall 2019 couture collection as showing creative director Virginie Viard’s preference for long, lean silhouettes.

Although she didn’t receive any acting nominations in 2021, Robbie was a presenter, introducing “Promising Young Woman” as one of the Best Motion Picture — Drama nominees. For her duties, Robbie wore a black patterned ruffle-tiered belted long-sleeve Chanel ensemble. “Promising Young Woman” was produced in partnership with Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap.

Although she wasn’t officially on the press tour for “Barbie” yet, Robbie hinted at her future pink-centric wardrobe for the rest of the year at the 2023 Golden Globes, wearing a baby pink Chantilly lace and silk tulle gown with a chevron bodice from Chanel. The dress took 750 hours to complete and incorporated 30,000 elements of embroidery, including sequins, bugle beads and feathers. Robbie worked with stylist Kate Young to select the look from Chanel’s fall 2022 couture collection. Robbie was nominated for her third Golden Globe that year for “Babylon” in the Best Actress Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy category.
