  • Maren Morris posted a series of racy photos on Instagram.

  • Many celebrities and fans loved the shots, but some responded with negative comments.

  • Maren posted a lengthy message on social media in response.

Maren Morris won’t let anyone bring her down.

The “Girl” singer recently posted a few pictures from a photoshoot with Playboy, where she wore red jeans, cowboy boots, a hat, and…little else. The 29-year-old looks absolutely stunning in the images, which she captioned with “strip it down.” (Psst, you can see the photos here).

Multiple celebrities, including LeAnn Rimes, Carly Pearce, Danielle Bradbery, and her own husband, Ryan Hurd, reacted with total positivity (and lots of fire emojis). Some followers, however, were not as pleased.

Many took to the comments to write things like “Sad to think little girls look up to you” and “You will definitely lose a ton of respect because of this.” One said, “Girl get some clothes on, these girls out here trying to get attention by showing off their goodies. BE THE EXCEPTION!!!” Another added, “Nope. Don’t like em. We all know you are a gorgeous lady. No need to expose yourself to the world.”

But Maren has a lot of fans on her side, who immediately jumped to her defense. “Y’all need to let women feel comfortable in their own body,” read one response. Someone else clapped back with, "Maren looks amazing and can do what she wants!"

After the flurry of back-and-forth discussion, Maren took to her own Instagram Stories to clear up any confusion. To sum it up: Yes, she is happy with the shots, and no, she doesn’t care if they aren't quite your taste.

“The thing about me is, I make music for myself. I learned later that it touches others, which is the most wonderful byproduct of a songwriter’s calling,” she wrote alongside another photo from the magazine. “Some can slut-shame me for my lyrics about sex, and you can put me in your little box, but I just want to live and love. I recently accepted myself and will put these photos in a frame because I’ll never have this moment back.”

So in conclusion, we should all follow this Maren supporter’s very sage advice: “If you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all just unfollow. Very simple.”
