Marc Jacobs Gets Married: All the Celebratory Moments from His New York Wedding

The designer’s wedding brought out some fashion A-listers, and got them dancing under the giant disco ball at the Grill Room.

Last night, designer Marc Jacobs and longtime partner Charly “Char” Defrancesco tied the knot in an intimate, fashion-filled ceremony in New York City. The couple said “I do” and proceeded to celebrate the evening with a star-studded affair at the Grill Room. Guests—many of whom wore Jacobs’s theatrical frocks—included supermodels Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Gigi and Bella Hadid, while other notables such as Rita Ora, Mya, Lil Kim, Christina Ricci, stylist Katie Grand, Vogue’s Anna Wintour, and many more were also in attendance to fête the duo.

For their ceremony, Jacobs and Defrancesco wore matching diamond and onyx penguin pins. The designer shared the sentimental pieces—a gift from Fabio Zambernardi, the design director of Prada and Miu Miu—on Instagram shortly before the wedding, writing, “Penguins have only one partner and mate for life. A great example of faithfulness and fidelity.” Jacobs also shared his wedding day outfit options shortly beforehand, which included several heeled boots supplied by his friend, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele. Jacobs ended up wearing a black tux, while Defrancesco went with a green velvet style.

The duo got engaged one year ago, when Jacobs surprisingly popped the question in a Chipotle restaurant (it included a flash mob, set to Prince’s “Kiss”). On Saturday, wedding guests celebrated the union by dancing the night away under the Grill Room's giant disco ball. Some lucky attendees shared scenes from the festivities using the hashtag #marcandcharswedding. Accessories designer Olympia Le-Tan even captured the duo cutting their five-tiered wedding cake. There were plenty of dancers and performers throughout the night, too.
