Like Many of Us, Tracee Ellis Ross Has Been Craving “A Bit of Glamour” Lately

Ever since Tracee Ellis Ross participated in the #pillowchallenge a week ago, she’s really been stepping up her game as far as at-home fashion is concerned. The actor has clearly been thinking a lot about dressing up, what it used to mean and what it means now under lockdown.

Ross recently posed for Vogue wearing a cobalt blue Balenciaga suit that brought out all of her boss vibes, even from the casual comfort of a living room. “It feels good to put on a power suit even though it’s just to sit on my couch,” she wrote in the caption of the photo, adding that she’d worn the look to speak with Oprah back in February during her Vision Tour. And last night, she proved just how much she is pining for public fashion outings again, for the days of dinner parties, dressed-up gatherings with friends, and the red carpet too.

Ross shared a selfie in what appears to be her lemon tree-lined patio, wearing nothing more than a pair of high-heeled, cream-colored mules, and a matching silk 1950s-esque bodysuit. She accessorized with chunky gold pendant necklaces, bracelets, a choker, and hoop earrings and captioned her snapshot with the words: “Sometimes a gal needs a bit of glamour in her life. I mean sheesh.” Indeed, many of us could use some elegant escapism right now, and what better way to distract ourselves for just a moment than by playing dress up? As Ross demonstrates, it doesn’t take much to summon up the glamour, just a few pieces of jewelry, lingerie, heels, and a fierce pose.
