Blue Beetle follows the story of Jaime Reyes (played by Xolo Maridueña) who was chosen by the ancient relic of alien biotechnology called the Scarab to become a superhero like the ones it chose before it. The movie includes a predominantly Latinx cast including Bruna Marquezine, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, and George Lopez.

The movie was released in August 18, 2023, in the midst of the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America Strike. It was also slated to become a streaming movie on Max, but director Angel Manuel Soto fought hard for it to be on the big screen. “When we were doing all the concept art and the world building, we really went above and beyond in trying to make this story feel worthy of the biggest screen possible. I wanted to present the film as a collective experience, because it makes a world of a difference. Conversations and dialogues can spark out of seeing a film with other people, but it was also to see our families on the big screen,” Soto told The Hollywood Reporter. “We wanted to see our history and our legacy on the big screen, in a way that is respectful, and that was an opportunity that we didn’t want to miss. So it was something that we were very committed to, and we wouldn’t take no for an answer. And eventually, Warner Bros. saw it fit, and they allowed us to go back into the theaters.”

How many Blue Beetle post-credit scenes are there? There are two post-credit scenes in Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle has one mid-credits scene that sets up the future of Blue Beetle and the DCU, and a second post-credit scene that gives homage to a very prominent Mexican superhero.

What happens during Blue Beetle’s first post-credit scene?

In the mid-credits scene of Blue Beetle, we find out that Ted Kord is still alive. When Jaime, Jennifer, and Rudy search Ted Kord’s Beetle Nest base, a “Hello?” is heard through the electronic equipment. Ted thanks whoever turned on his equipment, not knowing it was the trio, and urges them to tell his daughter, Jennifer that he is alive. Ted might be trapped in space, since it doesn’t reveal where he actually is. This discovery opens up the opportunity for Jaime to connect with the past Blue Beetles. Though Ted was not chosen by the scarab, he has access to all knowledge about the people who took up the Blue Beetle mantles including Dan Garrett.

This sets up many more doors for Blue Beetle’s presence in the DCU, as it was confirmed that he was one of the first heroes to be introduced in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new vision for the DC Universe. Director Angel Manuel Soto told The Hollywood Reporter, “There’s also a belief in our characters, who are now going to be part of this new DC universe, especially Xolo’s character and his whole family and Bruna Marquezine’s character. So, knowing that they are going to continue to move forward in the DCU allowed me to feel relief for myself and for them.”

What happens during Blue Beetle’s second post-credit scene?

What happens in Blue Beetle’s second end-credits scene? Blue Beetle’s second end-credits scene is a stop-motion animation homage to El Chapulín Colorado, a Mexican superhero in the TV show Chespirito created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. The voiceover is translated to “More agile than a turtle, stronger than a mouse, nobler than a lettuce, and his coat of arms is a heart.” Earlier in the movie, Rudy names one of his gadgets Chapulín which hacks into the Kord security system and shows the animation in place of the security cameras.
