If you’re a street style fan, you’re probably familiar with the highly Instagrammable minimalist bags from Mansur Gavriel. After hitting the scene four years ago with the now signature bucket bag, the simple, chic line of pastel and poppy-hued carry-alls have become instant style stars. Now, Mansur Gavriel is about to take that "It" girl whisperer know-how into the realm of apparel with its first ready-to-wear collection. Brace yourself.

After conquering the world of accessories (co-founders Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel were dubbed the accessories designer of the year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NBD) with its clean, sculptural bags and equally simplified shoes, the completely self-funded brand announced today that they were ready to take on the world of ready-to-wear.

“Creatively, we were always ready,” Mansur said in an interview with Business of Fashion. “We had such fast growth with the bags that we felt that we needed to be operationally prepared. Now the time is right.”

The brand will debut its freshman collection of autumn/winter apparel at New York Fashion Week in September, a move that also signals a shift to the see-now-buy-now trend that took over NYFW last year and hasn’t left the runways since. “With social media today, the whole system just doesn’t make much sense to us,” said Mansur. “It also feels much more exciting creatively to share the collection at the same time that it will be offered to the public.”

To the delight of stylists everywhere, the good news continues. Along with the expansion into our closets, Mansur Gavriel also announced that it'll be sticking around their brick and mortar pop-up shop in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood. To celebrate its new seasonal schedule, the space will be turned into a totally immersive environment to showcase its new spring 2017 collection in February. Is it just us, or is there a case of serious Spring Fever in the air?
