Man's Real-Life ‘101 Dalmatian’ Situation Is Straight Out of a Movie

If you've ever wished that you could live in a Disney movie, then don't watch the video that one man shared online recently. It's pretty much like something you'd see on the big screen. Let's just say that the man's many, many dogs are reminding people of a certain film. And it really could make you feel just a bit jealous.

A follower of the man's TikTok account pointed out the similarity in a video that's gone viral recently.

The man, who goes by @spotsontok, responded to the commenter with a video after they told him that his many Dalmatians reminded them of a "real life 101 Dalmatian movie." And when you watch the clip it's sort of hard to disagree.

"I am indeed," the man himself said in the clip. "I had an accidental litter and they were too cute to re-home and they all love each other," he explained.

By our count, the man has seven Dalmatians living with him. Which seems like something out of a dream. The question came from a previous video the man made, where it showed him sitting down to watch hockey with his many dogs in tow.

It appears he also has some non-Dalmatian dogs too. Meaning that his house has more dog inhabitants than human.

Commenters were loving the brood of matching pups. "OMG. I love to see this," wrote one person. "I too would have kept all of them," someone else chimed in. "How does it feel to live my dream," someone else wondered.

Littermate Syndrome

While these dogs are obviously cuties, many people online worried that they'd develop littermate syndrome. Sometimes known as littermate dependency, the condition is believed to happen when dogs are raised together and their behavior changes in negative ways. They can be become dependent on each other, have difficulties bonding with other dogs and humans, show aggression and signs of separation anxiety, or have difficulties training independently. It's thought that dogs don't need to be blood related for this to happen — it can happen to any animals that are raised at the same time together.

Despite the commenters' concerns, the syndrome is not officially recognized by veterinary behaviorists or other experts in the field. Instead they believe these behaviors arise from the challenges of raising two puppies together — not specifically because of raising two dogs the same age or from the same litter.

It's not to say that behavioral issues aren't something the man should keep an eye out for. But it's not guaranteed that his dogs will have behavioral issues and therefore shouldn't be too worried about it unless he starts to see signs.
