"Manmade Blizzard In Progress" At West Virginia Ski Resort

Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia, has joined the Eastern snowmaking foray, announcing today that a "manmade blizzard" was in progress on their slopes.

Enjoy a look at the ski area's snowmaking launch:

Snowshoe notes that the snow you're looking at isn't all artificial, as Mother Nature "pitched in a half inch or so as well."

The snowy blast and arrival of snowmaking conditions are just on time for Snowshoe, who are gearing up for their November 22nd opening date. It's funny to think that in a month from now -- assuming winter continues to provide -- most ski resorts in North America will be open or about to open.

To add to the stoke, Snowshoe also shared a video of its pre-season efforts on Instagram.

There's other news to be buzzing about at Snowshoe Mountain, too. Recently, the resort announced ongoing efforts to replace the Powder Monkey chairlift with a fixed-grip quad, set to be unveiled in mid-December. It's the first time Snowshoe has undergone a lift replacement since 2006.

Snowshoe reports that "The new lift from Leiter-Poma & Skytrac will increase uphill capacity, ease congestion in the Basin area, and improve access to the Western Territory."
