Raising two kids under age two isn’t for the faint of heart, as actress Mandy Moore is quickly finding out. In her recent Instagram post, in which she’s nursing 3-month-old Ozzie, she captions the photo “2 Under 2. It’s a lot.” Her eyes are closed, and she’s undoubtedly trying to regain composure or take a cat nap while stopping to breastfeed in the whirlwind of parenting multiple littles at once.

Best known for her role in “This is Us” (unless you are old enough to recall “A Walk to Remember”), Moore has been actively letting her audience into life as a new mama again on social media. Her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, also shares older son Gus, almost two, with her.

We first got a glimpse of just-born baby Ozzie when Moore posted a throwback picture to her birth one month prior on October 20, 2022, calling her birth a “transcendent” experience, recalling he was born to Willie Nelson’s song “Stardust.” The photo of Moore depicts the first moments post birth perfectly, a mixture of tears, joy, and amazement. We also know from her previous announcement that she can’t get epidurals due to a rare blood disorder.

But like us non-famous mamas, after the brand new baby stage wears off, the reality of two under two can hit hard, as you try to nurse one baby while chasing a toddler around. Moore calls it a “precarious balance of chaos and grace,” in a post reflecting on 2022 as the year changed. Like newborns tend to do, she posted that Ozzie “demands food at all times,” which can make it tough to keep tabs on an almost 2-year-old as well.

There are the multiple kids in diapers problem, alongside toddlers’ uncanny ability to get into pretty much anything in under ten seconds (especially when you just settled in to nurse, am I right?). But the sibling bond has started early for the Moore babies, as she also writes that Ozzie “seems genuinely impressed with his big brother.”

She even hints at wanting another baby already in her 2-month-old post. But heads up Mandy — while two kids certainly has its adjustment phase, some surveys, such as one of 7,000 mothers by TODAY, show that three kids is the most stressful number, and surprisingly even more stressful than four. Moms point to the demands of work and home, to feeling like their partners aren’t helping enough, as major stressors contributing to the problem, along with judgment from others to be perfect.

Moms everywhere have connected deeply with Moore’s honest posts. Even Pink chimed in, posting on Moore’s birth photo her congratulations and that she “deserves all of this.” Another writes, “I just love that you’re so stinking real. Like it isn’t a nanny raising your kids while you pop in and look busy. You’re doing it like the rest of us.”

She even shared the hiccups that go with attempting to take family photos, struggling to get a few minutes of peace to snap some maternity photos in September. She was even changing in her car just before the photos and trying to avoid frisbee players in the park. But in the end, she looked as glam as ever, showing that even chaos can be beautiful.
