Mandy Moore will star in a new Audible series that tells the story of Sue Brewer, an unsung hero whose Nashville home served as a creative incubator for outlaw country musicians like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.

The scripted podcast is titled The Boar’s Nest: Sue Brewer and the Birth of Outlaw Country Music, after the nickname for Brewer's living room floor. According to a press release from Audible, "The Boar's Nest" became the epicenter of the country music scene in 1960s Nashville and helped launch the careers of Nelson, Jennings, Shel Silverstein, and Kris Kristofferson.

The Boar's Nest "served as a raucous but nurturing creative hotbed for artistic outsiders on the road to becoming legends," according to Audible. "Brewer shaped the sound and soul of country music as we know it today, despite never picking up an instrument herself."

“Make me hurt," she would instruct the budding country stars who jammed in her living room. Now isn't that the mark of a soul-altering song?

Each episode of The Boar's Nest will focus on one famous songwriting session and include new recordings of country classics, with the goal of letting us in on the creative process.

“The beauty of telling this story in audio is that listeners will find themselves completely immersed in the heart of the Nashville music scene at such an exciting time in its history,” saidThis Is Us star and singer-songwriter Moore. “I’m honored to pay homage to her and the music revolution she helped ignite from her living room.”

Other cast members include Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Silverstein, W. Earl Brown (Deadwood) as Jennings, Stephen Louis Grush (Night Sky) as Nelson, John Hoogenakker (Dopesick) as Kristofferson, country star TJ Osborne as Johnny Cash, and Brad Leland (Friday Night Lights) as Faron Young.

The series is produced by Fresh Produce in collaboration with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman’s Jagged Films, Bill Gerber, and Nashville-based Oso Studios. The Boar's Nest will premiere March 14 on Audible, which you can download as an app or order through Amazon Prime.
