Mandy Moore Had the Most '90s Hairstyle Ever

Red crystal hair accents included.

Everyone has an embarrassing picture from the days when Bath & Body Works' cucumber melon scent was the best thing that happened to beauty, and Mandy Moore is no different. The 34-year-old This Is Us star is currently rocking some seriously elegant brunette hair with perfect (and recent) blonde highlights. But when she first stepped on the scene as a pop star, Moore unabashedly sported yellow-blonde hair in various, uh, artistic styles. The singer/actress threw it way back this Thursday with a photo of herself from 1999 going for a particularly interesting look featuring the '90s trifecta: zig-zag part, peacock tendrils, and hair crystals.

"I don’t even know where to start with this," Moore captioned the photo, which seems to be a screen grab from a '90s gossip magazine like Tiger Beat or J-14. "How could I have ever thought this was acceptable? And yah, those are red crystals glued on my part." Though Moore seems mildly mortified at her beauty choices, her fans certainly remember the time that this porcupine–meets–pop-star look was all the rage. "I love it — loved it back then and still now!," one person commented. "Issa Phoebe Buffet vibe ♥️," another wrote. One person even remarked that they showed their hairstylist that exact picture back in the day.

This isn't the first time that Moore has reminisced about her past red-carpet looks on social media. Earlier this year she gave a shout out for the 17th anniversary of The Princess Diaries (OK now we feel old) via a very sweet photo with Julie Andrews. Though Andrews — ever poised and still the Queen of Genovia in our hearts — looks like she could command a crowd today in the same outfit, Moore pointed out that her own bleach blonde curls and thin eyebrows belong firmly in the 2000s. TBH would still rock red hair crystals any day, though.
