Moore wrote on Instagram, "Welcome to the family, Marshmallow! This sweet boy was found wandering the streets for several days, many miles from here by our beloved nanny, Celina. "

"He’s about 6-7 months, un-chipped, not fixed (but scheduled for next week) and just the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang. We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us and the fact that he looks remarkably like our dear Joni made it too impossible to ignore. "

Moore is referring to their previous dog Joni who sadly passed away three years ago.

"The cats are nonplussed and Jackson (our 14 year old shepherd mutt rescue) is also a little (shrug emoji) but Marshmallow is slowly winning them over. When we showed Gus a picture of him and asked what his name was, without hesitation he shouted “Marshmallow!” With his arms in the air. Done and done. Can’t wait for all of the adventures, sir!"

This dog is just too cute. What a wonderful addition to their family and now Moore's sons have a fur baby to grow up with.

What To Do If You Find a Stray Dog

Sadly, you just can't keep any stray dog you find wandering the streets. You first have to take the dog to your veterinarian to see if they have a micro-chip. If they do, you have to contact the owner of the dog and see if the dog is lost or abandoned.

I know that it's tempting just to keep the pup, especially if you believe it's been homeless for a while, but if you were in this situation and your dog was lost you'd want someone to return the pup to you!

If the dog isn't microchipped, you can search social media site and call your local animal shelters to see if anyone is looking for the dog. If you can't locate the owner, you should bring the dog to your veterinarian to get him checked out and to receive any shots he needs, plus to get him microchipped so if he gets lost again you will be contacted.

Just like any pet you add to your family, you should keep the new dog separate from any other animals in the home until they have time to get used to each other, make introductions slowly, and make sure all animals have a quiet place to retreat to.

Adding another pet is such a wonderful experience for any family, and it's just magical when a stray pet finds you. Here's wishing many years of love for precious Marshmallow with his new family!
