'The Mandalorian' Fans Should Know That Season 2 Cloaked Figure

Spoiler warning: the following story contains spoilers for Season 2 Episode 1 of The Mandalorian. Do not read unless if you've already watched the episode, or otherwise don't mind being spoiled!
Boba Fett was always cool. That much is not really up for debate. The scratched-up, sweet looking green armor, the tracking Han Solo and all of our heroes throughout the galaxy, the silently being told "no disintegrations" by Darth Vader—he's just a cool dude. A cool dude who doesn't even have three minutes of total screen time in his original Star Wars trilogy appearances in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (and gets a tiny bit more as a child appearing in Episode II: Attack of the Clones) before being swallowed into the belly of a Sarlacc Pit, in one of presumably the most anti-climactic deaths in film history.
For years, fans and Star Wars lore alike (including some novels and other pieces of Star Wars extended universe content that is no longer considered canon) have argued that Boba Fett was, in fact, still alive, flying out of that Sarlacc Pit to safety. But we never saw it on screen. Never saw it until the closing moments of Season 2, Episode 1 of The Mandalorian, that is.
We'd heard in the lead-up to Season 2 that Boba Fett would finally appear again, confirming his survival and being played by Temeura Morrison (who played Boba's father Jango Fett, in Attack of the Clones; a perfect casting choice, considering the fact that Boba himself is a clone). And in the closing moments of the Season 2 debut, titled "The Marshal," we see a cloaked, armed figure looking on as Mando rides away, now with Cobb Vanth's armor in tow.
As if it wasn't obvious enough, it becomes 100% apparent that this figure is Boba Fett—who, yes, has escaped certain death at the bottom of the Sarlacc Pit—and has tracked his armor. Remember, throughout the episode we hear that Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) got his armor from Jawas; if it looked familiar and particularly worn down, that's because it's almost certainly Boba Fett's armor, taken and traded off by those little intergalactic pawn shop scavengers. And we think it's safe to guess that after almost literally going to hell and fighting his way back—maybe we'll see how exactly that all happened—Mr. Fett wants his armor back.
It's hard to guess how things will play out during the remainder of the season; Boba seems to be operating as something of a lone wolf, and Mando still has to deal with Moff Gideon and whatever other scoundrels and monsters the universe has to offer on his way to protect Baby Yoda. But with one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars history in line for what will likely be his biggest chunk of screen time yet, we can't say we're not excited.
