Man Shares Disgusting TikTok of Himself Cooking Shrimp in Airplane Bathroom

Airplane food has always gotten a bad rap, as safety regulations often prohibit the use of open-flame grills on commercial aircraft and meals must be prepared ahead of time and reheated by cabin crew members. One man seemingly took it upon himself to prepare his own meal in his flight's lavatory, in a video that is sure to turn even the strongest stomachs.

TikTok user Barfly is perhaps best known for his videos of preparing meals in hotel bathrooms, sometimes using the bathroom sink or toilet tank to boil or sous vide his ingredients. But at least in those videos, he's the only one using the sink, which has ostensibly been sanitized by hotel staff prior to his stay. You can probably see where we're going with this.

"Well, I got a terrible idea!" the TikToker proclaims in his latest video, titled "Mile High Bathroom Garlic Shrimp & Mash," a statement that surely no one will disagree with.

In the clip, he produces two bags from his carry-on luggage of raw, frozen shrimp and instant mashed potatoes. While you still can't take a bottle of water through security, somehow this is acceptable. He then proceeds to fill the bathroom sink up with water and MacGyver a couple of batteries to heat the water. When the water reaches the desired temperature, he drops in the shrimp, followed by the garlic butter and the potatoes, using his bare hand as a mixing tool.

"With two 6-volt batteries wired in series to an immersion beverage heater, one is able to get water scalding hot quickly," he captioned the video. "Raw shrimp will only need a few minutes. Adding instant mash to the shrimp water adds some extra flavor. Garlic butter makes everything go better."

Surely, the garlic butter makes it OK.

Not surprisingly, commenters came in hotter than an airplane bathroom sink that's been rigged with 6-volt batteries. "Bro there is absolutely no way," wrote one user. "They take my 75ml bottle of pure vanilla extract but you’re allowed to bring a series of wired batteries and heating elements," wondered another. There were also plenty of remarks about putting him on the no-fly list, which seems more than reasonable given the circumstances.

In the end, the only person he's really hurting is himself. Though, given some of his other videos, you have to wonder if the guy is just immune to food-borne illness at this point.
