This man pushed a woman all the way home after her electric wheelchair broke down

A man who pushed a disabled woman home after her wheelchair broke down is being praised for his compassion.

Bilal Quintyne, 24, of Smyrna, Ga., was recently headed out for a morning jog with a friend, when he saw a woman in an electric wheelchair stranded on the side of the main road. Her chair’s engine had died, leaving one of her wheels dug into the busy street and the other planted on the sidewalk.

“She asked if I could call for help and I said, ‘I’m in good shape. Where is your house? I’ll take you myself,’” Quintyne, an amateur boxer, tells Yahoo Lifestyle. The young man removed his shirt and began pushing the woman down the road, fighting the 90-degree heat.

A video of the gesture, shot by Quintyne’s friend, was posted on Facebook, where it sparked 61K reactions, 62K shares, and 2.7 million views. “God’s Plan. God’s Work. Her battery gave out and she didn’t no how she was getting home,” Quintyne wrote on the post. “God blessed me with an able body. So WE pulled her home. A mile or not I wouldn’t go home until she was home. Period.”

The pair didn’t chat much on the 30-minute trek home, but when they finally reached the woman’s home, Quintyne inquired where she was headed before getting stuck. “When I learned she was on her way to the grocery store, I offered to go food shopping for her, but she wouldn’t allow me,” he says. “She was crying, very grateful, and said that many people had driven by without stopping to help.”

Quintyne, a father to a 4-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter explains, “I was doing my job as a man. There’s so much hatred in the world and it costs nothing to love someone. My only goal in sharing this is to restore the values we’ve lost as people.”

After the grueling hike, Quintyne wasn’t too tired. He parted ways with the woman and went straight to the gym.
