Hawaiian man Daren Young was recently ordered by a judge to send his ex-girlfriend 144 compliments. Before you think anything close to "Aww," the reasoning behind Young's punishment is pretty serious.

According to Maui News, Young was banned from contacting his ex-girlfriend through a court order back in February. But on May 22, he attempted to contact her 144 times in a three-hour period, through a combination of calls and texts. As a result of breaking the order, Young spend 157 days in jail.

In her ruling, the presiding judge Rhonda Loo explained to Young, who promised he was "not going to do it again," "For every nasty thing you said about her, you’re going to say a nice thing. No repeating words."

"It’s so childish to think a grown man can be so thumb-happy. I hope you don’t have a phone anymore and, if you do, I hope you don’t have her number anymore."
