The man who was driving the vehicle that collided with Treat Williams' motorcycle has been officially charged in connection with the actor's death.

As revealed in a news release on Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Bennington County State's Attorney's office has completed their review of the June 12 crash in Vermont, which left the Everwood alum with fatal injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ryan M. Koss, has been charged with "grossly negligent operation with death resulting," according to Vermont State Police.

Koss was driving the Honda Element SUV that collided with Williams' motorcycle, causing the actor to sustain critical injuries before being airlifted to Albany Medical Center in New York, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 71.

According to authorities, Koss was contacted on Tuesday evening, and "voluntarily met troopers at the Shaftsbury Barracks, where he was processed on the charge and released."

Koss is set to be arraigned Sept. 25, 2023, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.

Police also confirmed the official cause of death for Williams in the latest update, which listed "severe trauma and blood loss as a result of the crash" as the determination of the Medical Examiner's Office in New York.

The update comes nearly two months after the initial news of Williams death, which was confirmed by his longtime agent Barry McPherson at the time.

Williams—who is survived by his wife Pamela Van Sant and their two children Gill, 31, and Ellie, 24—has since been memorialized in a Celebration of Life ceremony held by his family just ago.

"As time passes, the grief doesn’t get any easier, but life is fragile," the family wrote in a statement shared to the late actor's Instagram page. "We are trying to live every day like it’s our last, and appreciate the time on this beautiful planet that we are lucky to call home."

"Here’s a picture from Treat’s Celebration of Life of the family 🤍," they added, alongside a photo of the family posing with their two dogs in front of a truck filled with flowers.

Members of Williams' Hollywood family have also spoken out to pay homage to the late actor.
