Space Gray? That was the color of your last one. Silver? Basic. Gold? Who are you, 2 Chainz? But what about pink? According to a new report—speculative though it may be—men are some of the key customers creating a backlog for the new iPhone 6s in "rose gold."

Which would make a lot of sense, if the thing were actually rose gold. The shade has proven quite popular in men's watches and jewelry over the last few years, owing to the fact that it manages to be a little more distinctive than its yellow counterpart, but not so garish as to alienate the more conservative guys out there.

So, a rose gold iPhone? Sure. But let's be real: The 6s is not rose gold. It's pink. And even though the whole "real men wear pink" thing has been going for a while, right now, the idea of a pop color on your phone feels a little bit out of touch. "Peacocking," or dressing in bold colors for the sake of attention, had its moment. Now, men's style is taking a turn for the more subdued—shades of gray and navy have never been more popular—and we have to admit we're a little surprised to see such a brash color option gaining traction with those of the XY persuasion.

If you want a little pink in your pocket, far be it from us to say you shouldn't get the "rose gold" iPhone. But do yourself a favor and think about it before you do. You've got a couple of years to go until that upgrade, and you don't want to feel like a relic when you pull out your powder-puff smartphone and everyone else is keeping it low-key on the space gray.
