Man Dies in His Tent at Camp 3 on Everest-Lhotse

Gabriel Tabara of Romania has died in Camp 3, common to Everest and Lhotse. His sherpa guide found his lifeless body in the tent yesterday morning. A day passed while his family was notified before the news was released today.

Tavara, 48, was trying to climb Lhotse without supplementary oxygen. He was outfitted by Makalu Adventure, Everest Chronicle reported. He showed no signs of illness during the day. Once in Camp 3, he went into his tent to sleep, the expedition company said.

Tavara had climbed Manaslu in 2021. A team will bring his body down from the mountain tomorrow.

Summits

Meanwhile, Sirbaz Khan of Pakistan, who summited Everest earlier today without bottled gas, has reached Camp 4 for the night, together with the Imagine Nepal team. Piotr Krzyżowski of Poland also reportedly summited Lhotse today.

Khimlal Gautam, Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office, says that 400 climbers have summited Everest so far this spring, according to The Everest Chronicle. About 150 reached the top today.
