Man Catches Wild Bass and Decides To Keep Him As a Pet

When you catch a wild bass, usually you just return it to the pond you caught it in. But that wasn’t enough for one man, and now he has a 300 gallon tank with his pet bass living in it.

His name is Gus the bass, and he’s a pretty big boy! All he likes to do is eat and swim around all day. He keeps getting bigger and bigger!

While Gus loves to eat, he’s going to have to cut back a little bit or else his dad is going to have to upgrade his tank yet again. This is such a cool pet to have, and would be a great learning experience for a child to catch their own bass and keep it as a pet.

This bass is definitely getting spoiled, and lives a better life than most pond bass would! He has a huge tank complete with a ton of decorations to hide around and play in. He is definitely the most spoiled pond bass out there!

Catching a Bass

A bass can be targeted in the morning or late afternoon. Using a worm that is a little smushed up will attract the attention of the bass, which will then get caught on the hook. You can also use a red spinner bait, which will also grab the attention of the fish.

When you catch your fish, you can put it in a small plastic container but will need to transfer it to a tank as soon as you can. Get a filter, some substrate, and some fake plants to make your new bass feel at home.

Bass eat a variety of things, including worms, other fish, and shrimp. You can provide your bass with a varied diet and he will live as your pet for years to come!

Caring For Your Bass

As mentioned, bass need a variety of different foods to stay healthy and fit. While providing them with these foods, you’re also going to want to make sure that you have a large enough tank for him to swim in.

Gus is a huge bass, so his 300 gallon tank is definitely sufficient for him. A smaller bass will require less space—but be warned, they seem to grow fast! This fish is definitely being cared for correctly, and you can just tell that his dad adores him!

Just like Gus, your new bass will flourish when given the right care.
