Man’s Body Found After Live-stream of Snowy Hike Up Mt. Fuji Ended in Chilling Fall
Authorities in Japan believe they have found the body of a man who fell while he was live-streaming his ascent up Mt. Fuji, according to CNN.
Rescue workers from Shizuoka and Yamanashi, the prefectures bordering the mountain, began their search on Tuesday morning after live-stream viewers called police. Authorities found a body on the mountain Wednesday afternoon. They are working to identify the body and confirm whether or not it is that of the live-streamer.

The man, who identifies himself as TEDZU, began his livestream by calling it “Let's Go to Snowy Mt. Fuji.” He repeatedly mentions how cold he is and how dangerous the path has become. According to Sora News 24, the man was on a gap year after failing to get into law school.
In the video, the man can be heard saying, “Am I on the right track? So much of the route is covered with snow.” Then he shouts “I’m slipping” and it appears he falls and loses his hiking gear and smartphone before the video ends abruptly, according to NHK News. Rescue workers flying overhead in a helicopter confirmed marks in the snow where it looks like someone slipped.
Mt. Fuji’s hiking season ended in September and has been officially closed to hikers, but there is no law that prevents people from entering. Local police warn visitors not to climb this time of year, as the mountain is especially dangerous when covered with snow.
