Mammoth Mountain Shares Video Of New Chairlift Towers Installation

Earlier this month, October 11th, Mammoth Mountain, California, shared a video explaining the process behind the construction of the upgraded Canyon Express chairlift, located on Mammoth's piste.

The most-recent phase of the project involved installing the towers for the new chairlift.

The Canyon Express' upgraded iteration -- slated for opening early this winter -- is a Doppelmayr D-Line Series 6-Pack detachable high-speed chairlift. Previously, the chair was a high-speed detachable quad.

Mammoth states that the upgraded Canyons Express will offer 25% higher uphill capacity than its predecessor, featuring enclosed top and bottom terminals alongside an automated conveyor loading system. The construction of the upgraded lift aims to reduce long lift lines at nearby Canyon Lodge.

Other capital expenditures coming to Mammoth include a new summer tubing park, day lodge, and alpine coaster system.

The new day lodge -- dubbed "Woolly's" -- is slated for completion in the summer of 2024 and, according to a September press release, "will feature 6,000 sq. ft. of guest serving facilities including public restrooms, ticketing, food & beverage, retail goods, and indoor and outdoor patio dining areas."
