Mammoth Mountain, California, Surpasses 300 Inches Of Snowfall After Storm Overperforms
Mammoth Mountain, California, surpassed 300 inches of total season snowfall this morning after a storm deposited just over one foot of snow overnight.
According to Mammoth Mountain's snow report, the storm "overperformed," depositing more powder than anticipated.
The resort's official seasonal tally is now 302 inches. On average, Mammoth Mountain sees 400 inches of snowfall.
Intermittent snow showers are expected throughout the day, with another storm cycle that could deposit more than a foot of snow to arrive over the weekend.
So far this month, Mammoth Mountain's seen 61 inches of snowfall. Last March—in 2023—the resort picked up a stunning 192 inches, although the 2022-2023 winter, which produced historically good skiing conditions at Mammoth Mountain, was something of an anomaly.
It remains unclear whether Mammoth Mountain will reach the 400-inch mark this winter. March is almost finished, and April's snowfall totals are somewhat spotty at the resort. Several feet arrive in April some years, while other times, the resort only picks up a few inches or so.
Either way, the ski season at Mammoth Mountain, which typically stretches into June, is set to continue, presumably for another few months, weather and conditions permitting.
