Mammoth Mountain Adjusts Operating Hours As Summer Skiing Continues

Today, July 5th, Mammoth Mountain, California, announced an adjustment to operating summer hours.

Starting today and going forward, the mountain will be open from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM daily to account for warmer daytime temperatures.

The following lifts remain open at Mammoth: Broadway (1), Stump Alley (2), Face Lift (3), Unbound (6), Discovery (11), Chair 23, and the Panorama Gondola.

The resort reports that they will remain open to skiers "through the end of July," weather and conditions permitting.

After the closure of Palisades Tahoe, California, this past weekend, Mammoth Mountain is one of two ski resorts still open in North America. Timberline Lodge, Oregon, is the other resort continuing to provide summer skiing, although Timberline has significantly fewer terrain options than Mammoth.

I'm fully aware that recommending that you "drop everything" to check out Mammoth before it closes isn't the most practical advice. Skiers, for the most part, have jobs and adult obligations, meaning few of us can ditch what we have going on to ski at the drop of a hat.

But if you happen to have vacation days stacked up, now's an excellent time to take advantage of them. Mammoth's summer snowpack probably won't be this deep again for years or even decades. To those who've always wanted to make top-to-bottom runs in July, now's your chance.
