The ‘Mamma Mia!’ Sequel Trailer Teases New Music, a Pregnancy & ...no Meryl?

The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, dropped today, and all we have to say is: Meryl Streep, where art thou?

In the trailer, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) calls on her mother’s best friends and former bandmates, Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), to guide her as she embarks on a new life adventure: pregnancy. But the moment quickly turns nostalgic when the ladies recall how Sophie’s badass single mom, Donna (Streep), always had the best advice.

Rosie says, “Your mother was the bravest person we ever knew. Let me tell you how she did it, all on her own.”

We then cut to a series of flashbacks featuring young Donna (Lily James) graduating from college, navigating life and, of course, dealing with the whole baby daddy predicament as told in the original film, Mamma Mia!

But that’s not all. The real kicker takes place at about the two-minute mark when Sophie’s grandma, Ruby (Cher), makes her sassy, platinum-blond debut. Welp, it’s all too much.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits theaters in July 2018. BRB, listening to ABBA on a loop.
