This Mamma Mia 2 Actor Appears in Both Present-Day and Past Scenes in the Movie

"He’s the hardest working person in that movie."

With all the excitement, dancing, and memorable appearances from Cher in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, it can be kind of hard to keep track of every musical moment in the movie. Thankfully, one person on Twitter has pointed out a hilarious and somewhat baffling mystery that you may have missed.

Twitter user and amateur Mamma Mia detective Tom Zohar has pointed out that one of the movie's ensemble dancers, who the film has identified as Justin Thomas in an email to Teen Vogue, appears to be gifted with a special ability in the film — time travel. In a Twitter post from July 26, Tom pointed out how the possibly super-powered actor seemed to do the impossible, showing up in both a present-day and past scene in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

In his tweet, Tom noted how Thomas has dual acting abilities, and joked about a possible career path for the cast member going forward, writing, "I hope Mamma Mia 3 follows the story of this gentleman who somehow opened a portal that allowed him to exist in two different timelines."

Twitter users have since chimed in with their support for what Tom is calling "the hardest working person in that movie." One user believed the time travel could be attributed to Cher, writing, "I blame Cher, if she can turn back time there's no telling what other space-time-dimensional hijinks she can do." Another person also pointed out that the actor may have appeared in additional scenes, tweeting, "Omg yes he is my favorite. I kept an eye on him the whole time. He’s in like 5 different scenes."

While social media may have been surprised at Justin's ability to be in two places at once, the actor is kind of a pro at it. Before appearing in the film, he starred as Sky Rymand in a production of Mamma Mia at the Liverpool Empire Theatre in the U.K. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on whether there's hope for another time-hopping appearance from Justin in a future Mamma Mia film.
