Maleficent 3 Is in the Works Angelina Jolie Confirms

Angelina Jolie is returning to the role of Maleficent, she confirmed in a new interview with the Wall Street Journal.

While further details about the film are under wraps, it is said to follow on from Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which hit theaters in 2019 and followed Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora as they begin to question the complex family ties that bind them.

It is not confirmed if Jolie's co-stars, Elle Fanning and Sam Riley, will also be returning, but Jolie confirmed that she has signed on for a third chapter in the Maleficent story.

The first Maleficent film hit theaters in 2014 and followed the vengeful fairy as she is driven to curse an infant princess, only to discover that the child could be the one person who can restore peace to their troubled land.

It made $759.8 million at the box office from its $180 million budget, with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil scoring $491.7 million from a $185 million budget.
