Yousafzai's ensemble for the night was as dazzling as the champagne-gold red carpet. She wore a silver sequined gown with a hood, long sleeves, and a cinched detail on one side of the waist. She accessorized only with a large silver diamond ring, and a gold ring with a large emerald. She wore minimal makeup and added a pop of color with a bright red lip.

Malik, next to her, looked dapper in a classic black suit, white shirt, black bow tie, and black loafers.

Yousafzai's arrival at the 95th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles comes after she was invited to the 2nd Annual South Asian Excellence Pre-Oscars celebration at Paramount Pictures last week. She also attended the Oscar Nominees Luncheon (where she was photographed chatting with Tom Cruise) back in February. This is because the activist and author is an executive producer on Joshua Seftel's short film Stranger at the Gate, which which is nominated tonight in the Best Documentary Short Film category.

The 29-minute film tells the story of a former U.S. Marine, originally from Indiana, who goes to war for his country and is deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Once he returns home after the war, he suffers from PTSD and turns into an Islamophobe.

"To believe that people can change — and to be willing to change ourselves — is our best hope for a better world. I am so proud of @strangeratthegate and the people who made it. Please share our film with your friends and family," Yousafzai wrote in an Instagram post last week.
