Gluten-Free Makeup is Real and it's Awesome
Come meet our faves.
By Lyndsay Green
Gluten-free is one of the biggest food trends in recent memory. It is, of course, a very legitimate way certain people need to eat in order to be healthy (since celiac disease hinders the digestion of gluten), but it’s also a something loads of people have been trying to boost their digestion and have more energy. In fact, “gluten-free” is such a buzz word that you’d be hard-pressed to go to a restaurant or food store and not see it somewhere along the way.
Maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised, then, that our favorite makeup brands have snuck the diet into a slew of new beauty goods. This is a life-saver for sufferers of celiac, whose skin may become irritated from using products that contain gluten. And it’s a boon to the growing number of consumers who are (rightfully) more mindful than ever about the ingredients they put on their bodies.
Afraid gluten-free translates to a sub-standard product? Have no fear: These new formulas are just as vibrant in color, rich in hydration, and long-lasting—if not more so!—than the regular things you buy. So if you’re going to go gluten free, go all the way. And if you just can’t give up that rye bread and whole-wheat pasta, we challenge you to put your skin and nails on the gluten-free diet instead. It’s a beauty girl’s way to be health-conscious.
