The Secret to Mary J. Blige's Oscars Red Carpet Glow

Makeup artist Sir John shares the secret skin-care product — the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff — he uses to get Mary J. Blige's 2018 Oscars red-carpet glow.

This just in: The secret to Mary J. Blige's (and Beyoncé's) signature glow is — obviously, aside from great genes and layers of highlighter — a full-body scrub that also doubles as a mask. Sir John, the makeup artist behind Blige's glimmering red-carpet look just spilled his get-glowing trick he uses on the singer, and it turns out, it's as easy as hopping in the shower.

Right before celebs hit the 2018 Oscars red carpet , Sir John shared one of his top skin-care tricks he uses on all his "girls," including Blige, herself. His go-to product? The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff. "I just went through a ton of this product on my girls," the makeup artist wrote in an Instagram caption. "It's a mask and scrub that makes your skin into the perfect glowing canvas. It's my secret to giving them that Oscar-worthy skin."

So, what's the deal with the Brazilian Bod Buff? For one, as Sir John pointed out, it's a dual treatment that can be used as both a full-body scrub and mask. This means just a handful of the gritty stuff, which is made with exfoliating crushed Brazilian quartz and Amazonian clay, helps to slough away dead skin cells and bring out skin's inner glow — in mere minutes. But perhaps the best part? Its warm, sweet scent, which smells just like salted caramel and pistachio.

To use, simply apply a handful (or more if you're feeling dry) to wet skin while in the shower. Massage in circular motions, as if you were polishing your body. If you're feeling more of the mask, apply to dry skin and then leave on for about five minutes. Then hop in the shower, let the clay works its magic, and then slowly wipe away the stuff just as you would a body scrub. Follow it up with your favorite body lotion or moisturizer to reap the reap the polish's benefits.

Want to glow like Blige? Unfortunately, you'll have to wait — the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff doesn't hit Sephora's (virtual) shelves until March 13 for $25. (It'll also be in Sephora stores come March 30.) Until then, you can shop these full-body exfoliators for less than a Jackson.
