This Makeup Artist Just Proved the Red Carpet Power of Color Contacts

Last night's British Fashion Awards red carpet played host to a number of of-the-moment trends, brick-red lips, braids for days, and season-subverting showings of skin among them. But one look in the direction of makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench demanded another, and then another, and not for any of the usual styling tricks: gone was Ffrench's naturally blue gaze, switched for cat-eye contacts that were equal parts unnerving and idiosyncratically cool.

Framed by nearly lavender peroxide waves, Ffrench's eye-level look came with dramatically smoked lids, alabaster skin, and a full peach pout, which kept attention on the contacts. Because really, why reserve an eye-color transmutation for the runway, or Halloween night? Played the right way, an unconventional eye offers just the right amount of rebellion for a red-carpet win.
