Major Colorado Resort Gets First Snowfall Of The Season

Several ski areas in Colorado saw their first snowfalls of the season yesterday, September 11th.

Among these resorts was Copper Mountain Resort, which shared its fresh blanketing of September snow on Facebook.

While a little September snow likely doesn't mean that Copper is going to open earlier than usual (but who really knows?), these photos are still a welcome sight. Any snow at any time of the year is a cause for celebration, in my book.

Unsurprisingly, warmer temperatures are back on the menu at Copper this week -- it is September, after all. The ongoing week will bring rain, thunderstorms, and predominantly above-freezing temperatures. However, this weekend, on Saturday night, Copper predicts temperatures dipping just below freezing.

Elsewhere in the state, several other peaks and resorts saw their first snowfalls yesterday, like Longs Peak, Pikes Peak, Breckenridge, Telluride, and Arapahoe Basin.

Copper plans to open on November 13th, which puts us 62 days out from the resort's first day of skiing and riding. But who's counting?
