Maisie Williams's Debuted a Brunette Blunt Bob at the 2019 Emmys — Here's How to Get It Yourself

Ever since she wrapped Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams has been rocking pink strands—but for this year's Emmy Awards, she went back to her natural roots. On this year's purple carpet, Maisie debuted a brunette (her natural hair color) blunt bob haircut, courtesy of hairstylist Ryan Richman. Why the switch up? As Richman put it, "we wanted to take Maisie in a more mature direction as she is exploring new roles now that Game of Thrones has come to an end. The first step was changing her hair color from pink to a natural brunette.”

Here's how she styled it:

  1. To protect Maisie’s new brunette color we shampooed and conditioned her hair with Dove Color Care Shampoo and the new Dove Color Protect Conditioner. The sulfate-free products are gentle and help to keep the color vibrant while making the hair silky and manageable.

  2. On towel-dried hair, I applied Dove Style+Care Volume & Fullness Mousse at the roots for all-day volume and fullness.

  3. Using a blow dryer with a concentrator nozzle attached, I began rough drying her hair while using my fingertips to lift the roots for maximum volume. To finish drying I smoothed the ends with a small boar bristle round brush.

  4. To create an undone texture I used a 1” flat iron and bent the hair in an “S” pattern starting from root to ends. After I waved each section I sprayed the waves with Dove Style+Care Compressed Micro Mist Flexible Hold Hairspray to secure the texture.

  5. To finish styling, I sprayed a generous amount of Dove Care Between Washes Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo . Pro-tip: Using dry shampoo at the root helps to absorb oil and add weightless volume.

  6. Finally, we pinned one side back to expose a diamond ear cuff and to play off the asymmetry of the dress.

As for her wardrobe, Maisie wore a black asymmetrical custom design by Reuben Selby that was made by JW Anderson.
