Maine's Sugarloaf Mountain Asks Community For Help After Historic Flood

"When Sugarloafers come together we can accomplish just about anything, but sometimes we could use a little help."

Recently, businesses, homes, and even the mountain of Sugarloaf flooded when a historic storm hit the East Coast, causing the mountain to pause operations, and people in the area to suffer major inconveniences and damages to property.

Roadways washed out, and people were stuck at Sugarloaf due to being unable to drive home.

Water rushed through the forests and onto the roads, such as Main Street in Farmington (a small town near Sugarloaf Mountain).

"Last week's historic flooding impacted community members, including Sugarloaf employees, creating financial hardships."

This weather event was considered "major flooding" and some areas saw more than 5 inches of rain.

"The Sugarloaf Community Fund was established in March 2020 to support our mountain community in times like these. 100% of the money donated goes into the community to help with food, rent, utilities, medical needs, and other essential needs, managed by the Sugarloaf Christian Ministry."

"During this holiday season, we could use your help as requests continue to come in. Your gift of any amount would mean the world to a family or individual in need."

Our thoughts are with everyone in Maine at this time, and we hope Sugarloaf gets hit with a snowstorm soon to combat the destructive rain it saw recently.

Sugarloaf was my home mountain growing up, and I can't imagine what everyone in Carrabassett Valley is going through right now.

Most importantly, we all hope everyone is safe and recovering from the severe weather damage at this time.
