Maine's Largest Ski Resort Teases New Trails, Lift, Snowmaking In Summer Update Video

Sugarloaf, Maine is working on a game-changing expansion on West Mountain this summer. The expansion is the resort's most significant project since the SuperQuad was installed in 1994.

Check out the resort's summer update video below:

The West Mountain Expansion is part of the 'Sugarloaf 2030' master development plan that was released in 2020.

A lift and a couple of trails already exist on West Mountain, but there are hundreds of acres of undeveloped terrain that lies between the West Mountain Express and the L. Glancer trail.

The expansion will include 120 acres of new trails, a new high-speed lift, 246 high-efficiency snowmaking guns, and over 88,000 feet of new snowmaking pipe in this area.

Additional parking will also be added near the base of the new Bucksaw Express that's being installed as part of the expansion. Sugarloaf will build and sell on-mountain real estate in this area.

Check out the trail map below. The West Mountain Expansion can be viewed on the bottom right of the map.

The West Mountain Expansion won't add much by the way of steeps and trees, but having more beginner and intermediate terrain should help to alleviate congestion on the busiest days of the season.
