Maine's Biggest Ski Resort Shares Update On New Chairlift

Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine, is hard at work on the latest chair set to join its fleet: the Bucksaw Express.

Yesterday, the ski area shared that the new lift's towers and cross-arms were in place, inching the project closer to the grand reveal.

The Bucksaw -- a high-speed detachable quad -- will access terrain in Sugarloaf's West Mountain zone, previously only home to the West Mountain Double. With the new lift's installation will come 12 new trails, offering a mix of beginner and intermediate terrain, expanding Sugarloaf's skiable acreage by 10%.

The resort also intends to construct over 200 new slopeside homes in the West Mountain zone.

As of right now, the plan is to open the Bucksaw Express during the latter half of this upcoming ski season.

Speaking of the ski season at Sugarloaf -- it's coming in hot. The resort aims to open on Friday, November 18th, meaning we're less than two weeks away from those first turns of the season.
