Maine Coon Cat's Loving Gesture Toward Mom of His Kittens Is Melting Hearts
When we typically think of cats having kittens, we automatically assume the mama cat takes over all the responsibilities. And we're not necessarily wrong for thinking that. Male cats aren't specifically known for their fathering skills. But once again we are proven wrong thanks to this video from TikTok user @asupportivepaw.
A Maine Coon cat named Luna recently gave birth to kittens and the father, Sonny, didn't want to leave Luna to parent alone. The way he checks in and shows his support has completely melted our hearts. Check it out!

Aww, what a perfect little family! We absolutely love that Sonny is right there through it all. He offered his support with the most adorable little paw tap and kept guard while the kittens were milking. And don't even get us started on how he kissed Luna after her hard day of parenting. Precious!

Since not every mama cat will have a supportive dad as this Maine Coon cat does, here are a few tips to help the mother deliver kittens. For starters, always keep your vet's phone number or an emergency vet number handy just in case, although most deliveries will go smoothly. Then, prepare a whelping box for the cat to give birth in. Fill it with newspaper or a blanket and put it in a secluded area. Fair warning, sometimes cats won't use it, but it doesn't hurt to give them an option! And don't hesitate to reach out to your vet if any questions arise.
