Charging Speed

Confusingly, MagSafe chargers offer different charging output speeds. The majority of products available are MagSafe-compatible. These devices are Qi wireless chargers with magnets built into them, delivering an output power that tops out at 7.5 watts. There are also MagSafe-certified chargers, which offer an output power that tops out at 15 watts. The higher a MagSafe charger’s capacity, the faster it can replenish your iPhone’s battery.

In general, MagSafe-certified chargers are more expensive than chargers that are MagSafe-compatible. Stand MagSafe Charger

The Nomad Stand MagSafe charger is a sturdy, sleek charging stand that’s perfect for a desk setup. It features a weighted metal base and glass surface, making the accessory feel more luxurious. That weight means the charger will stay firmly planted on a surface, allowing you to detach your iPhone with one hand.

Despite its more luxurious appearance, the Stand is only MagSafe-compatible and charges at a slower 7.5 watts. Nomad does offer the MagSafe-certified Stand One, which is the same thing as the Stand but charges at a faster 15 watts. Unfortunately, the Stand One is frequently out of stock (and more expensive), which is why we’re recommending the Stand.

Nomad’s Stand also features a 6.6-foot non-detachable USB-C cable, although you’ll need to supply a 20-watt adapter—you can find a Nomad 20-watt USB-C PD wall charger for $20. Even with its limitations and single-charging pad, the Stand is an excellent option and one of the best-looking MagSafe chargers available.

Like Nomad’s Base One MagSafe charging pad, the Stand One offers a faster output of 15 watts to top off your iPhone more quickly. The charging stand also features a 6.6-foot non-detachable USB-C cable, although you’ll need to supply a 20-watt adapter—you can find a Nomad 20-watt USB-C PD wall charger for $20.

PowerWave Magnetic Charger

Anker’s Magnetic Charger is an affordable charging puck that is similar to the charging pucks from Apple and Belkin. It’s a straight-forward option that’s case-friendly and features a 5-foot built-in USB-C cable—double the length of the cable attached to Apple’s MagSafe charging puck. The longer cable means you won’t have to sit as close to the wall outlet.

However, you should be mindful that, unlike the options from Apple and Belkin, Anker’s charging puck offers a power output of 7.5 watts. You’ll also have to supply your own 20-watt USB-C wall adapter—something Anker offers for under $20.

2-in-1 MagSafe Charging Stand

The Satechi 2-in-1 MagSafe Charging Stand is an excellent charger for Apple’s StandBy mode. The charger features an aluminum base that can charge your AirPods and includes an LED light to indicate the charging status. Like our top pick, it features a polished stainless steel arm that fits well into its surroundings, giving the illusion your iPhone is floating. The charger also features a ball mount that connects to the charging pad, allowing you to adjust the angle of your iPhone when it’s attached.

Satechi’s charger is MagSafe-compatible, which means it offers a maximum output of 7.5 watts. And while it technically supports the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Satechi notes that the magnets in the stand may not be strong enough to support the weight of these devices. That said, Satechi’s charger is an excellent 2-in-1 and a more affordable alternative to our top pick.

Boost Charge Pro 3-in-1 MagSafe Charger

The Belkin Boost Charge Pro 3-in-1 MagSafe Charger is tailor-made for anyone with an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. In contrast, you can set the AirPods (or other wireless earbuds) on the charger’s base. Like Belkin’s 2-in-1 charger, the company's 3-in-1 supports a faster charging output of 15 watts.

The charger also offers Apple Watch fast-charge support for the Series 7, Series 8, and Ultra. Fast-charge support allows the Apple Watch to go from 0 percent to 80 percent in about 45 minutes, according to Apple. Our only gripe with Belkin’s charger is that the wall adapter is bulky, taking up a lot of space when plugged into an outlet. Otherwise, it’s the perfect 3-in-1 for charging your Apple devices.

Apple’s MagSafe battery pack is the best for charging your iPhone on the move. The sleek and compact gadget will significantly extend its screen-on time between regular charging sessions, depending on your iPhone. And when connected to a Lightning cable and a standard wall charger, the accessory doubles as a fast MagSafe charging pad.

Best of all, like the iPhone, the iPad, and the Apple Watch, the Apple MagSafe battery allows you to protect and customize it with covers. Leading accessory makers like Bellroy, Casetify, and Nomad offer such products.

MagSafe Wireless Charger

This wired MagSafe charger by Belkin is the most versatile on this list. Unlike a magnetic stand or pad, the accessory won’t keep your iPhone stationary, allowing you to interact with it while charging. And thanks to an integrated kickstand, the gadget can hold the iPhone in landscape mode on a desk, a nightstand, or a table.

MagSafe Duo Charger

Thanks to the MagSafe Duo Charger’s foldable design, the charger is an excellent option for travel. The fast-charging gadget folds in half when not in use, making it space-efficient and easy to store—it’s compact enough to fit in your pants pocket. The Duo Charger supports an output power of 15 watts, and the Watch charger flips up so you can charge the wearable in nightstand mode. The iPhone charger can also charge your AirPods.

We’ve traveled with the Duo Charger several times and always appreciate its ability to fold in half. That said, it’s not nearly as sturdy as something like Nomad’s excellent Base One Max.
