Well, folks, it's official. After five seasons on the air, the final episode of the Magnum P.I. reboot has officially aired.

Ever since the show debuted on NBC back in 2018, fans were ecstatic to see a new version of their favorite private investigator. With Jay Hernandez portraying Thomas Magnum (who was played by Tom Selleck in the original 1980's version), fans got to see the character embark on new stories in crime, love and friendship.

But, sadly, NBC announced in June 2023 that Magnum's time was coming to an end. And with the series finale airing on January 3, 2024, fans were disappointed to know that Magnum P.I. wouldn't return for season 6.

So, is this the last time we will see this incarnation of Magnum on TV? Well, Jay had some thoughts about it, and what he said will definitely leave fans surprised.

When a fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) how NBC should allow the show to tie up loose ends with either season 6 or a final film, Jay replied that he actually had some thoughts about it coming back.

"I actually floated the idea of a standalone film. I suppose it's still possible," he replied on January 3. "If I'm being totally honest, I didn't love the show ending how it did. That being said, to all the #magnum #ohana thank you for always supporting us! Y'all have been AMAZING. We're humbled by your dedication."

He continued: "I know I've been inactive on this platform for reasons you're well aware of but I hope this space of positivity persists even if the show does not. Keep being kind and always curious. To health, happiness and gratitude in 2024. ❣️🤙🏝❣️."

As fans know, the ending of this version of Magnum P.I. saw the titular character going against villains Neil McRae (Jesse Kove) and Sam Bedrosian (Patrick Fabian) in his final case. Additionally, he almost proposed to Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks) but decided not to upon her discovery of the ring he was planning to give her.

The two eventually decided their current romance worked for the time being, but if he ever asked her to marry him, she'd accept the proposal.
