Maggie Gyllenhaal: Bras Are the New Going Out Tops

The 25th annual Gotham Independent Film Awards took place in New York on Monday night, where it was certainly warmer than it usually is on the last night of November. Warm enough, in fact, that while getting dressed for the event, at her Brooklyn brownstone alongside husband Peter Sarsgaard, Maggie Gyllenhaal thought, “To hell with the top!”

Instead, the fashion forward actress, who most recently modeled the perfect Celine/Stella McCartney/Acne-filled wardrobe on the BBC’s The Honourable Woman, wore a chic black pantsuit with a matching formal bra. The halterneck peeked out from underneath a short, puff-sleeved jacket, while her abs peeked out from underneath black wide-leg trousers.

If you take your cues from Gyllenhaal, holiday party dressing just got a hell of a lot easier.
