Madonna

Madonna shed new light on the health scare she had over the summer, revealing to fans that at one point she "didn't think [she would] make it."

While kicking off her long-awaited Celebration tour at London's O2 Arena over the weekend, the "Hung Up" singer addressed the scary situation that occurred this past summer, which resulted in her being hospitalized in the intensive care unit with a severe bacterial infection.

"I didn't think I was gonna make it," the 65-year-old Queen of Pop shared with the crowd during the opening night of her concert series, per a video obtained by People. "Neither did my doctors. That's why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me."

Madonna went on, "I forgot five days of my life, or my death, I don't really know where I was. But the angels were protecting me, and my children were there. And my children always save me every time."

"If you want to know my secret and you want to know how I pulled through and survived, I thought, I have to be there for my children. I have to survive for them," she concluded.

Madonna is the mother of six children: Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David, 18, Mercy, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 11.

In early July, she let everyone know she was "on the road to recovery," working hard to get well and reschedule the tour dates she had postponed at the time. It wasn't an immediate recovery, as a month later, she shared that she was finally able to "dance just a little bit," and now she's finally ready to get back out there and we for one, couldn't be more excited for her.
