From Cosmopolitan

By the end of season 3, things seem to be going relatively well for the couples of Riverdale. Bughead is strong, Varchie is back on, and Choni has been reunited. So what if an entire group of people (including Betty’s mom) are missing? Who cares that Cheryl is keeping Jason’s dead body in her house? Okay, so maybe there was that insane flash-forward scene of Betty, Archie, and Veronica standing around a fire, covered in blood? At least the ships are still intact!

For now, anyway. Madelaine Petsch sat down with Cosmo at her Madelaine x SHEIN pop-up event, where she spilled some major tea on Riverdale season 4. Choni fans, brace yourselves—Madelaine warns that it’s not going to be a totally smooth ride for Cheryl and Toni.

“There may be some trouble in the waters,” she says. “I mean, Cheryl’s keeping her brother’s dead body in her basement, which is, like, a fairly large secret. If and when Toni finds that out, it might cause some difficulty.” You think?

“It’s a very sensitive topic. Can you imagine being like, ‘Hey, you need to bury your brother, he probably smells and I have questions about how he hasn’t decomposed yet.’”

Yeah, why hasn’t Jason's body decomposed yet?? Did Edgar Evernever do some weird embalming ritual to keep his corpse looking fresh? One can only imagine the issues that would arise when someone finds out their girlfriend is hiding a dead body.

But don’t worry too much, shippers. Madelaine still hopes Choni will prevail and revealed that Cheryl and Toni will be rocking a “super cute” couples costume for the Halloween episode of season 4. “But, like, their version of a couples costume,” she adds.

Plus, now that it’s senior year for the gang, everyone has some pretty big decisions to make. Last season, Cheryl and Toni both met with the dean of admissions of Highsmith College, so there’s def a chance they’ll attend the same university in the future. Cheryl, at least, has a few options.

“I can see Cheryl being a fantastic lawyer,” Madelaine says. “I’m not sure what else she would do. I feel like that kind of seems like the right direction. Or she might take over the family business, which, who actually knows what they do. Like, are they a maple farm? Are they drug dealers? Who knows? She’ll take it over and figure it out.”

Cheryl running a drug-dealing ring? Truly anything can happen on Riverdale. Season 5 hasn’t technically been confirmed by The CW yet, but let’s be real—we all want to see what happens after high school.

“I‘m curious to see how we’re going to play that off. I think a lot of random universities will start popping up around Riverdale,” Madelaine says. “I love my cast, I love my character. Why would I want it to end anytime soon?”

The CW’s Riverdale premieres October 9 at 8 p.m. ET, just in time for ~SpOoKy SeAsOn~.
