MINTY BETS: It's time for the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Miami, Florida between Alabama and Ohio State. Alabama is a 7 and 1/2 point favorite. And the total is at a high 75 and 1/2. Jared, what's your best bet for this game?
JARED QUAY: Oh, man. Alabama has been rolling every team it's played this year. They just can't be stopped. And that's why I'm going Ohio State here. I'm just sorry. The odds are against them that they can't blow out every team of the year. I genuinely think Ohio State will come with a good game plan.
Of course Alabama strategy is like-- You know what? Don't play defense. We'll just score a million points and they won't be able to keep up." But I think Ohio State actually has the athletes and receivers to be able to keep up.
I was actually talking to our producer Kent Brown before this. And he was telling me how he believes it should be a high scoring affair. And if it gets close, you win there. I mean, I'm not saying pick money line-- even though you might shoot. But 7 and 1/2 is way too much. It's too much. It's too much!
MINTY BETS: Wow.
JARED QUAY: Gothard, please--
MINTY BETS: Jared--
JARED QUAY: Tell me, Gothard.
MINTY BETS: I am hurt. You told me that you were going with Alabama. So now we move on to Matt Gothard, who has never hurt me. Matt, who are you going with in this game?
MATT GOTHARD: My, oh, my have the tables turned here for Mr. Jared Quay? A week ago, saying Ohio State didn't deserve to be in the College Football Playoff. Now he's picking him to win it, everybody. He's picking them to beat Alabama, the best team in college football.
I've been telling you I like Ohio State. But I'm telling you right now, Minty, we're taking Alabama minus 7 and 1/2 in this game for one reason and one reason only. They cannot stand that offensive line of the Tide. The secondary for Ohio State is weak. And I think that Alabama is going to light them up.
They have three Heisman contenders on that team. Alabama, even though I love the Big Ten, is gonna do what they always do-- win the National Championship in a decisive manner. Jared, welcome to the Big Ten fandom.
JARED QUAY: Wow. Hey, man. First of all, it's about adaptation. Don't be telling me-- I can adapt. That's what the key-- that's how you succeed. You gotta adapt. You gotta know when you were wrong. You correct your script.
MATT GOTHARD: You're chasing.
JARED QUAY: Go ahead, Minty.
MATT GOTHARD: Minty, who do you like?
MINTY BETS: All right, all right. Well, I've been a little cold. But I'm feeling hot. I like Alabama. I'm with you, Matt. I like Alabama minus 7 and 1/2. That offense is too crazy for Ohio State to handle. I think Alabama's defense can also hold off Ohio State.
Look, Mac Jones is putting up crazy numbers. They're great in the air, great on the ground. I think Alabama is just a much better team so I'm going with you, Matt.
